Access the day-use trails from a parking area on Pleasant Hill Road about four miles north of the nature center. The pathway is mostly grassy. You'll start on a few short loops that head through stands of upland pine. This section of the property has abundant wildlife that includes warblers, pine siskin, bobwhite, and other birds. The shorter trails connect to the Pines Trail. The route forms a 5.7-mile loop around the property. Tour the area as you hike on forest roads and through pine and grass savannah. On the back side of the land, you'll walk along Blue Heron and Alligator Lakes. Enjoy scenic views of the water.Â
This preserve is open to your four-footed companion as long as you keep the leash on them. Help keep the area pristine by bringing bags with you to remove any waste. You'll also want to carry water for yourself and your pooch.
