Looking for a place to hike in the Platte City area? The Prairie Creek Greenway is a favorite among pup-tastic individuals! Located along the northwest edge of Kansas, this hike is perfect for you and your pup to spend some quality time together.
This 6.75-mile walking trail also offers bicyclists a great time. It is paved and mostly level, so any fitness-level pup can participate. You can hop on and off the trail at two different locations along the route, making it very convenient indeed.Â
Lots of picture-perfect moments will be had here with your fur-ever friend. There are even designated ‘selfie-stations’ along the way! The trail rolls up and down some very small hills, making for an interesting hike. You will never be bored with the varied landscape you will pass through – there are forests, open fields, landscaped areas with grass and shrubbery and even a small creek crossing. Your pup will not get his feet wet though as the path crosses above water’s edge! The trail meanders close to a few subdivisions which offer residents an enjoyable exercise route.
Some smaller wildlife might cross your path, including rabbits and squirrels, but for the most part, this mostly suburban trail is animal-free. A bicycle repair station is along the path in case anyone needs a quick repair and benches to relax your weary feet. Doggie clean up equipment is scattered throughout so you can keep this trail pristine for all to enjoy.Â
Be sure to pack water to share and a few snacks. There is a portable toilet at the main trailhead where you begin your journey for your convenience. You will find this trail will offer you and your pup a peaceful and relaxing walk from beginning to end.
Your pup will love hiking on the Prairie Creek Greenway!
