When you are trying to find the furfect nature hike in Middle Island, New York, look no further than Prosser Pines County Park. The Prosser Pines Nature Trail is a 0.7 mile loop trail that keeps you and your fur buddy covered by a canopy of tall, beautiful pine trees. It is like being in a secret pine cathedral according to many who take this trek.Â
Start out your adventure at the trailhead by the parking lot in the park on Yaphank Middle Island Road. At the entrance, there are several signs with rules and regulations, as well as a trash can and wooden railing. As soon as you step into the trail, there is a big clearing with two large red benches. This would make a furific place to sit and relax before or after your trek and let your pooch sniff everything.Â
This is a short, but gorgeous trail with a lot of things to amaze you right in the middle of the city. Throughout the entire trail, you will be walking on a bed of soft pine needles, which are easy on your feet and Fido’s paws.
