Sportsman Lake Trails

Is your pup waiting at the door with their leash? Maybe that is a sign that they are wanting to go for a hike at the Sportsman’s Lake Trails in Cullman, Alabama. Located in Sportsman’s Lake Park, there is something for everyone here!

There are two trails here to choose from. The 1.1-mile loop, called the Sportsman’s Lake Trail, offers a moderate hike over a short distance. Or hop on the Sportsman’s Lake Mountain Bike Trail for a 4.7-mile trek.  Pick up either of these trailheads on the northern entrance to the park. This is where you will also find restrooms and water fountains.

The 1.1-mile loop is asphalt paved and is a dedicated walking/hiking trail. This pup-friendly path is perfect for most pup-fitness levels and is accessible for hikers and joggers. You will get to see some of the park’s various amenities from this trail, including the mini golf, picnic areas and lake. Fishing is allowed along the water, so you can join in or enjoy watching others catch a big one!

If that is not enough adventure for your day, hop on the bike trail to take you all throughout this 186-acre park. The 4.7-mile out and back trail traverses a host of different terrains from easy to difficult. It also winds around the 26-acre lake. This is a dirt trail which is easy on the paws. You will even get to see some running streams along the path. Be careful to keep your fur-ever friend close as the bicyclists pass.

Be sure to fill those water bottles before you and your pawtastic pup head out on either journey. It is advised to keep pups on a leash throughout and to bring mutt mitts to help keep this park’s trails clean and pup-friendly.
