Description

If you’re looking for a beautiful forest hike to do with your dog, check out Spyglass Hill Trail! This pawesome loop trail is 17 miles long, and it welcomes dogs on-leash.

Spyglass Hill Trail has three trailheads where you can begin your trek: Bonner Place, Ford’s Well, and Patton Place. All three trailheads offer parking, and the Ford’s Well trailhead is also home to a historic well and gazebo. There’s no water available at any of the trailhead, and so it’s a good idea to bring a few bottles of water with you.

As you go along Spyglass Hill Trail, you’ll walk through a beautiful forest that’s filled with native trees, including numerous pine trees and hardwood trees. You’ll also walk along three furrific creeks: Billy’s Creek, Guest Creek, and Long Branch Creek. A long portion of the trail also goes by lovely Enid Lake. If you and your dog need a break during your hike, there are plenty of rest stops along the trail where you can relax and enjoy the view with your pup.

While most of the trail is flat, there is one portion that has a steep incline: the walk up to the top of Spyglass Hill. This hill has an elevation of 350 feet above sea level, and the peak features huge sandstone rocks. From the summit of the hill, you’ll get a great view of Enid Lake. There’s also a primitive campground on the summit that features a grill, fire pit, and picnic tables, making this the perfect place to stop for lunch or a snack!

Spyglass Hill Trail is a pawesome trail filled with beautiful attractions you and your dog will both love. Bring some doggy bags so you can clean up after your dog while you’re hiking, and have a furrific time trekking down this fun-filled trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
