Are you heading out for a walk in Alabama with Fido? How about checking out the Village Pointe Preserve Park Trail in the city of Daphne?Â
Considered part of the Eastern Shore National Recreational Trail, Village Pointe offers a lovely nature trail in a historic park setting. You can pick up the trailhead at the park’s main entrance. This trail runs for 1 mile and offers a scenic hike through beautiful country full of woodlands, wetlands and streams.Â
The path is made of soil primarily with a paved portion and a lovely boardwalk with meanders around a historic tree planted in the late 1700’s. There are informational signs depicting the fact that Andrew Jackson made a speech here rallying troops during the War of 1812. Climb up the observation deck for a bird’s eye view! Your pup is allowed throughout this park and trail, which then leads to Mobile Bay.Â
The trail offers a fishing pier to walk on, offering spectacular views of the city of Mobile across the bay. This is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy the sights with your fur-ever friend by your side. Afterwards, head back onto the path and continue your walk. Take the boardwalk that crosses a lagoon where you can see alligators resting on water’s edge. There are many benches along the entire route where you can sit.
Be sure to take a camera to capture the memories made here and binoculars for a close-up look at those gators and the many species of birds that flock to the area. Restrooms and drinking fountains are provided at the main entrance. And remember to always bring clean up bags to keep this park pup-friendly.Â
