Within Yellow River Park, there are approximately 12 miles of natural surface trails that are used specifically for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. There is also a one mile paved trail that is located right next to the river. The trails are all multi-use, but there are trails and park entrances dedicated for each of these activities.Â
When you enter the park from Juhan Road Southwest, you'll notice equestrian parking on your left, along with horse trailer parking, and access to the equestrian trail. On your right there is a bicycle parking area, complete with change rooms and restrooms, and access to the bicycle trail. The pedestrian parking area is about half a mile down the road on your right. Here you'll find ample parking, playgrounds, restrooms, and a picnic pavilion with grills.Â
Once you start your adventure, you'll notice that the trails intersect often and don't have clear signage. There are also lots of improvised trails. Many people choose to take a 3 mile hike along the trail that hugs the banks of the Yellow River. It starts on the paved trail before reaching an observation deck with a lovely overlook of the river. From this point on, it's a natural surface trail under a canopy of leaves, and occasional small bridges.Â
These trails welcome leashed doggos, and even have doggy waste bag stations throughout the park! Bring some water to share with your adventure dog!
The Yellow River Park Trails are the pawfect way to spend some quality time with your pup.Â
