Wag! Walkers know Ozone Park
As a prominent Italian-American community, Ozone Park is largely a residential area located in Queens, New York. Most of Ozone Park is made of standalone, single-family homes, but there are few duplex-style residents and smaller apartment complexes. Commercially, Ozone Park is home to grocery stores, banks, a few restaurants, and general shopping. There are also a handful of churches and schools as well as access to public transportation located in this neighborhood. Pampurr'd Pets, a small, local groomer, is centrally located in the neighborhood.

Fun fact: Ozone Park is also home to Jack Kerouac's home! Kerouac was a prominent poet and novelist and is best known for his novel On the Road
Ozone Park, like any area in the greater New York City area, experiences all four seasons. Winters are wet, cold, and you will likely experience plenty of snowfall! Summers are hot and humid, so you may see some afternoon showers in the area.
What is the terrain like in Ozone Park?
Being less than ten miles from downtown Manhattan, Ozone Park is largely artificial terrain. There are several manicured greenways, but no natural terrain for you and your pup to explore. Ozone Park is also a very flat neighborhood, so your walk should not be too strenuous or have any surprising hills. Thankfully, while you are out on your daily walk, Ozone Park has plenty of sidewalks, so you and Fido don't need to share the roadways with cyclists or oncoming traffic! Unfortunately, there are very few trees in this neighborhood, so you will want to be careful on hot summer days. Always exercise caution and make sure both you and Fido are hydrated and ready to go!

The boundaries of Ozone Park include Atlantic Avenue to the northwest, 106th and 100th Streets to the east, South Conduit Avenue to the south, and 75th and Drew Streets to the west.
How many greenways are there in Ozone Park?
Thankfully, there are several public greenways located in Ozone Park and several larger greenways very close by! Smaller greenways located in residential areas include Tudor Park, London Plantree Playground, Centreville Playground, and Vito Locascio Field. These are smaller, have playgrounds, and small sitting areas.

There are also two large cemeteries in Ozone Park: Bayside Cemetery and Acacia Cemetery. Dogs, however, are not welcome, so be sure to steer clear of these spaces!
Ozone Park is incredibly close to a national recreation area, as designated by the U.S. National Park Service. The Gateway National Recreation Area is a 27,000-acre park. Pets are allowed in some areas of this park, so please do your research before venturing out on an adventure! Where pets are allowed, they must be on no longer than a six-foot leash at all times. The closest part of Gateway National Recreation Area to Ozone Park is Spring Creek Park and Charles Memorial Park.
