South Ozone Park and other neighborhoods in the five boroughs of New York City experience all four seasons. The summers are hot and sometimes miserably humid. Winters are cold, snowy and can be quite wet. Spring and fall are both a bit more mild and temperate.
The boundaries of South Ozone Park include Liberty Avenue to the north, Van Wyck Expressway, Rockaway Boulevard, and 150th Street to the east, Cargo Service Road and Nassau Expressway to the south, and Aqueduct Road to the west. Several major roadways through South Ozone Park include Belt Parkway and Rockaway Boulevard. Pedestrians should avoid these areas unless you are prepared to be extra cautious of oncoming traffic and high-congested areas.
However, immediately to the east of South Ozone Park is a quite large greenway: Baisley Pond Park. This park is home to baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, football, cricket and handball facilities, a playground, general recreation areas, walking and running trails, and access to fishing. This park is dog-friendly, but they will need to remain leashed.
