Overview
The Pets Table is the newest endeavor of meal prep subscription giant HelloFresh, allowing your pup to enjoy meals as fresh as your own. This premium fresh and air-dried dog food line can be purchased through Chewy, The Pets Table website, or added to an existing HelloFresh subscription on the HelloFresh app. But how does it stack up to other popular dog food subscription services like The Farmer's Dog and Ollie?
We give The Pets Table dog food a perfect 5 out of 5 rating, due to its use of human-grade whole cuts of meat, fruits, and veggies as the main ingredients. Its recipes are also customizable to suit your pup's preferences.

The Pets Table dog food product ranges and flavors
The Pets Table has two main pet food lines to choose from: Air-Dried dog food and Fresh dog food. They also offer exclusive add-ons like treats and supplements that you can add to an existing subscription.
They also have flexible plan options to save money, like 50% fresh, where you can receive smaller half portions of the fresh food to use as topper or to mix with commercial kibble, as well as a mixed subscription where you can bundle air dried and fresh recipes, and add some variety to your pup's diet.
The Pets Table Air-Dried Dog Food
The Pets Table Air-Dried Dog Food
The Pets Table describes the Air-Dried recipes as a "Healthy alternative to kibble" that's "made with real ingredients without any fillers [and are] shelf stable and gently air dried." Since these recipes are cooked and dried at low temperatures, they retain similar mineral, vitamin, and protein content as raw foods without any risks.
This line features four formulas, including two grain-free and two grain-inclusive options. All four recipes contain named animal proteins like salmon, chicken, or lamb as the first ingredient, followed by various fruits and veggies, like carrots, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. Keep in mind that all four recipes also contain bovine plasma, which is an issue for dogs with beef allergies.
Speaking of allergies, if your dog is allergy-prone or suffers from skin and coat issues, the Salmon & Whitefish with Pumpkin might be a good choice. This recipe is packed with omega fatty acids thanks to the addition of salmon, salmon oil, whitefish, and vitamin E. Likewise, pumpkin can help offset digestive upset that can sometimes come with food sensitivities.
The grain-inclusive recipes contain a mix of oats, barley, and flaxseed for complex carbs and added fiber, which can help stabilize blood sugar and keep your woofer energized throughout the day.
These recipes range between 28% and 32.5% protein as dry matter, wit Chicken & Sweet Potato being the highest in protein and Lamb & Beef with Brown Rice being the lowest. Each recipe is preserved with natural ingredients like vitamin E and rosemary and fortified with vitamins and chelated minerals.

The Pets Table Fresh Dog Food
The Pets Table Fresh Dog Food
If your picky pup prefers fresher, homestyle meals, The Pets Table Fresh recipes are sure to please. These human-grade recipes come in four drool-worthy flavors: chicken casserole, turkey casserole, beef stew, and chicken and brown rice.
Unlike the air-dried recipes, The Pets Table fresh recipes are not shelf-stable and must be frozen or refrigerated upon arrival. Thankfully, these are shipped frozen in insulated packaging to keep the food fresh until it reaches your pup's bowl.
These limited-ingredient recipes follow a similar formula, with named meat as the first ingredient, followed by chickpeas, veggies, and fruits. The only exception to this is the Chicken Entree with Brown Rice. This recipe is the newest fresh food offering from The Pets Table. It's the only one that includes grains and has no chickpeas.
The addition of antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies like sweet potatoes, spinach, carrots, and berries can help fight oxidative damage and keep your pup in top shape. These recipes range from 41% to 54.5% protein as dry matter, the Chicken Casserole with Green Beans being the option highest in protein.

Why Wag! likes The Pets Table Dog Food
Human-grade ingredients
All The Pets Table makes its dog foods with only high-quality ingredients — no animal by-products, meat meals, or cheap gains to be found here. Whole cuts of human-grade meat and all-natural produce make up most of the ingredients in these dog foods, providing your pup with a highly digestible, incredibly nutritious diet. Plus, they contain relatively few primary ingredients, making them a possible choice for pups with food allergies.
Personalized meal plans
The Pets Table offers customized nutrition plans based on your dog's age, weight, breed, activity level, and dietary needs. Since the meals ship automatically, you can set up the subscription without worrying about running out of dog food. Going out of town? No problem, the website will allow you to pause, cancel, and modify your orders in just a few clicks.

We love a company that stands by its products. If, for whatever reason, you are dissatisfied with your dog's trial box, you can reach out to customer support within 30 days of your purchase for either a full refund or an account credit, whichever you choose!

Concerns & considerations
Packaging
Some pet parents dislike the fresh food packaging, since the bags aren't resealable. If you plan on dividing the fresh food into smaller portions, you'll need to invest in storage containers or stock up on Ziploc bags.
Fresh range includes large amounts of chickpeas
According to an FDA investigation, some pet parents have steered away from foods high in legumes, like chickpeas, since they've been linked to acquired dilated cardiomyopathy in some dogs. Research is ongoing, and while there's no definitive link, it's worth noting if you plan to try these recipes.
All the fresh recipes, except the Chicken Entree with Brown Rice, contain large amounts of chickpeas. The only air-dried recipe with chickpeas as an ingredient is the Beef & Berries, but the ingredients list's order indicates that very little is added.
Outdated information on the website
We noticed that some of the information on the Pets Table FAQ is not up-to-date. For example, the brand's FAQ page states, "All of our recipes are grain-free except our Chicken & Sweet Potato Air-Dried Recipe, which contains barley and oats." There are additionally two grain-inclusive air-dried recipes, Lamb & Beef with Brown Rice and Chicken & Sweet Potato.
Limited favor variety
Finally, The Pets Table only offers chicken, turkey, and beef-based recipes, which may not suit dogs with protein allergies. Likewise, the brand doesn't offer specialized recipes like those for weight management, aging joints, or those tailored explicitly for puppies.
What pet parents say about The Pets Table Dog Food
"We were looking for food to help our dog get healthy and shed a few pounds. Additionally we wanted to get him on a non- chicken diet to avoid possible food allergies. I liked the half and half plan of beef stew with carrots and the dried lamb and beef with brown rice. Our dog, Big Boy, whimpers now while I prepare his food and gobbles it up. The packages of beef stew fit nicely in the freezer so freezer space has not been a problem."
"[The] website is easy to navigate and to select the type of food and place your order. Feeding schedule based on dog's weight is included. Company is great about letting you know the status of food delivery."
"I purchased the sample freeze dried dog food for both my dogs. Unfortunately, by the time they were somewhat transitioned, the main boxes shipped. My dogs decided they didn't like it anymore. I'm stuck with over $250 worth of freeze dried dog food. I don't feel there is enough time between transitioning and your first order shipping. By that time the guarantee is over and they won't refund any money or take it back. I would suggest getting the sample box and postponing your first order to make sure they truly like it."

The Pets Table Dog Food history
The founders of this brand did not start in the pet food industry at all, but in the human food market. The Pets Table is the brand child of the HelloFresh Group, which has brought us services like HelloFresh meal kits and Factor. According to the brand's website, 3 of the company's employees, "Laurent, Anisha, and Dovas decided to team up to expand HelloFresh's mission of 'changing the way people eat' to ensure it includes their furry companions too."
A driving force behind the creation of this brand was the co-owners' pets. Each of the founders has their own unique story that drove them to create a better dog food. For example, Anisha's furbaby, Ziggy, began eating less and less after a big move, and his vet suggested Anisha make her own dog food. This was a huge success for Ziggy, but Anisha found this tedious with her hectic work schedule.
Dovas' dog RayRay had the opposite problem; too many table scraps had caused him to put on a massive amount of weight, and his dad was in search of a healthier option for him.
After some trial and error, The Pets Table launched in 2023 and is available both through the website and as an add-on through the HelloFresh app. These products are now available on Chewy.
