This residential neighborhood has moderate homes, mostly bungalow style, and is a long established, well-developed area. Large trees and landscaping provide greenery and some shade from scorching Galveston days. Ferry Road is located on the community's east side and leads north to the ferry terminal in the area. This busy road and the terminal are not pedestrian-friendly locations. There is also a marina located to the south and several commercial businesses and industry in the area where pedestrian travel is not recommended. 

The main feature of the Harborview region is the Galveston Channel which lies on the districts west side. Cool breezes and water views are appreciated by residents walking their dog. The streets in the residential area do not have sidewalks and pedestrians and pets must share the road with vehicles. Remember to watch out for traffic and keep your dog securely leashed on your daily outing.

Lindale Park is located just south of the Harborview neighborhood. Residents of Harborview can access this park on foot and there are ball diamonds, a playground, and tennis courts located here. Most importantly for your furry friend, there is a fenced dog park! This waterfront park provides views of the ocean and a fenced, off-leash area for your dog to romp. There are separate fenced areas provided here for small and large dogs to provide safe play areas for pups of all sizes and there are benches and picnic tables for their human companions.

All beaches in Galveston allow dogs on a leash which is great news if your pup likes to lay in the surf. The Stewart Beach Park is located south of Harborview and can be accessed with a short drive. Your dog will love playing on and exploring this beach, but remember to keep your pup leashed and clean up after them.
