This Unionville neighborhood is home to Suburban Park, where dogs are welcome on-leash. This park was first opened in 1895 as an amusement park. The amusement park closed in 1905, but you can still see remnants of it today. As you walk along Suburban Park’s woodland paths, you’ll see remnants of an electric fountain, a food pavilion, and an underground storage cellar. You’ll also see the amusement park’s original sign. Bring some water and doggy bags, and enjoy walking with your dog in this unique park. After the park, grab lunch with your pup at Cure Restaurant and Bar. This restaurant has dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they offer an eclectic menu featuring a raw bar, beer and bacon pairings, classic burgers, and more.

This Wethersfield neighborhood is home to a great off-leash dog run, Mill Woods Park Dog Park. Located about 15 miles from Unionville, this park has separate areas for large dogs and small and shy dogs. There are plenty of benches for owners to sit on while their dogs play, and there are also doggy bags and water fountains available for your pup. Your dog will have a furrific time playing here! If you want to cool down after playing at the dog park, head over to The Fresh Monkee and grab one of their healthy and delicious smoothies. Enjoy your drink at one of The Fresh Monkee’s dog-friendly outdoor tables.

For a pawesome park, drive about eight miles from Unionville to Bristol and check out Rockwell Park. This park is home to beautiful woodland trails where you can walk your dog on-leash. It also has a fun off-leash dog park. The dog park is located on the side of a hill, and it includes separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs. There are plenty of trees to keep the park shady and cool in the summer, and there are benches for owners to sit on while their dog plays. Bring your dog some water and some of their favorite toys, and have a great time playing here.

Located about nine miles from Unionville, this West Hartford neighborhood is a fun place to spend the day with your pup. Start your day with an on-leash walk in Fernridge Park, which has a flat and paved path that goes around a pond and through grassy fields. Then, treat your dog to a new toy or a snack at Toy Dog Accessories at the Beadoir. This boutique sells locally-baked dog cookies and organic dog treats. After you’re finished shopping, end your fun day out with lunch at The Elbow Room, a contemporary American restaurant that has dog-friendly outdoor seating. Your server will happily bring out a bowl of water and treats for your pup.

If you’re looking for another fun off-leash area, check out Cheshire Dog Park. This dog park is 20 miles from Unionville, and it has a two-acre fenced-in area where your pup can run and play. This off-leash area also has lots of agility equipment for your dog to play on, including tunnels and hurdles. If your dog gets thirsty while they’re playing, water is available. If you’re looking for a pick-me-up after the dog park, head over to Main Street Caffe. This casual café has dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they serve a wide variety of coffee drinks. To eat, they offer sandwiches, salads, soup, and pastries.
