Garden District

The Garden District community in western Baton Rouge is about 17 miles south of Zachary. It's also where you'll find Raising Cane's Dog Park at City Park, a large dog park with room for all dogs! The park isn't really divided into sections for dogs of different sizes, but if you want your little dog to be away from big dogs, the park is big enough for you to find your own space. There are water hoses throughout the park, and there are also baby pools set up where dogs can cool off on hot days. This dog park is situated next to a family park you can visit as well, but your dog must be on a leash there.

Woodland Ridge

Woodland Ridge is a community in eastern Baton Rouge that's less than a half-hour drive from Zachary. Just east of this neighborhood is Forest Community Park. This 116-acre park has playgrounds, sports fields, a splash pad, a lake, and a recreation center. On top of all that, Forest Community Park even has its own dog park! This spacious dog park has big and small dog sections, and the big dog section is equipped with a pavilion. There's also water stations, small plastic pools, benches, and waste disposal items in both sections of the dog park. If you'd like to explore the other areas of the park with your dog, you're welcome to do so if they're kept on a leash.

South Baker

Baker is a small city in Louisiana with a population of about 14,000 people, and it takes less than 10 minutes to drive there from Zachary. In the southern quadrant of the city, there's a 390-acre park with fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. Greenwood Community Park has an 18-acre lake for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, as well as sports fields, a splash pad, walking trails, and even an off-leash dog park! The Greenwood Community Dog Park includes big and small dog sections, as well as water stations, waste disposal stations, benches, and a covered pavilion. There's a waterfront in the park, and you can walk your dog along it on a leash, or take an on-leash walk on the trail as well!

South Baton Rouge

South Baton Rouge is less than 30 miles from Zachary. In this area, you'll also find the Burbank Dog Park at Burbank Sports Complex. This six-acre dog park has all of the amenities that make a dog park great, and you and your pooch are both sure to enjoy it! There are separate big and small dog sections, as well as an agility section, and a gated lake entry section where dogs can swim and play fetch! On top of the lake, there's also a doggy swimming pool, so your dog has options if they're fans of swimming. You'll also find fresh drinking water and waste bags, too!

Northeast Baton Rouge

Northeast Baton Rouge is only about ten miles from Zachary, and this is where you can access the Kerry Stamey/Comite Bike Trail! This stunning five-mile trail takes you along the Cypress Bayou and the Comite River, and you're rewarded with scenic views the entire way. Your dog is welcome to join you on your trek, but they must be kept on a leash at all times. There are plenty of hills on the trail and some spots with steep terrain, so be prepared to get a good workout! The trail is open from dawn to dusk, and it's open to bikers too, and they must wear helmets at all times.
