Fryeburg

If you’re looking for a place to stay while you’re in Fryeburg, consider camping! There are a couple of campgrounds in town that offer basic amenities for wilderness-type tent camping. The Swan Falls Campground is a dog-friendly place with 18 wilderness sites and a convenient place to launch your canoe or kayak for a river cruise with Fido. A small camp store sells ice, firewood, and other necessities. Canal Bridge Campground on Main Street is another small campground that offers toilets and hot showers, secluded spots for tent camping and a beach on the Saco River with tent sites, ideal for accessing the river for a day paddle. Please remember to keep your pup leashed. For a gentler, more traditional place to sleep, the Admiral Peary Inn B&B is for you! This dog-friendly inn invites dogs to stay with their humans and even join them for breakfast! Arf!

Conway Town Center

Conway Town Center

Only 8 miles from Fryeburg, Conway Town Center, also known as Center Conway, is home to Saco Bound, which features pet-friendly rafting, canoe and tubing adventures on the Saco River. The company rents paddling equipment or will help you put in/take out at the river if you have your own. They also provide lifejackets. You can choose from a variety of trips, including overnights at private campsites, where Fido must be leashed.  For a change of scenery, you may want to head over to Conway’s Oliverian Brook Trail, a nearly 7-mile out-and-back trail along the Brook in the White Mountain National Forest that is mostly level and great for hiking with your pup. Hikers describe it as relatively flat and a secluded walk with few other people. Fido will love being with you on this one!
