Rockland
The Civitan Park in the middle of town is a pupular destination for families and their pups. There is a walking track where you and Fido can get some exercise and the little league fields offer a great place to play a game of fetch. The kids will love the playground and you and your pooch can sit on a bench and watch a game of tennis or basketball. There is boat access and you and Fido can walk around the lake and admire the views. The restrooms and shelters are clean and convenient - so invite some friends over for a picnic and let the pups socialize. Located nearby is the Howes State Park where you can go hiking with your pooch as long as you keep him on a leash. Spend some time at Worthington Memorial Park. There is an area for the kids to run around and play and Fido will enjoy a brisk walk around the area.

West Belpre
Pups who like to spend time in the great outdoors will love Blennerhassett RV Park on Beach Drive. The park is open all year, and there are both RV and tent sites available. You can stroll along the tree-lined walking paths with Fido and socialize with other campers and their pups. The wide open spaces are perfect to let Fido run around burn off some energy after a long trip. Just remember to bring your own doggie waste bags and be sure to dispose of trash in the receptacles. The Ohio River is just across the street, and you will love the water activities and easy access to the river.

Newport
Fort Boreman Park is just three miles south of Belpre and offers a historic archeological site and walking trails for your pup. The fort dates to the Civil War, and you can explore the area while Fido sniffs the remains of the stone structure. The trails are primitive, but offer plenty of space for your pooch to walk and examine plants and trees. If you are out with the kids, you and your pup can sit on a bench and watch them on the playground. You will need to bring your own water bottles and doggie waste bags. If you want to spend the night in the area, the Blennerhassett Hotel welcomes pups of any size for an additional fee.

Blennerhassett
Located in the middle of the Ohio River, the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park is a fun destination for the family. You can ride with your pup on the ferry over to the island and walk around while learning some of the local history. Buy tickets for the guided tour, but know that Fido is not allowed in any of the buildings and you will need to keep him on a leash. You can relax with family and friends in the picnic area while your pup has a snifftastic time in the grass. Planning a day on the island will be fun for the entire family.
Wood County
Just five minutes southeast of Belpre in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the Bicentennial Park in the Wood County neighborhood is a perfect place to take your pup for a walk. The paved walkway is easy to maneuver and there are benches and shade trees where you can relax. There are food vendors in the park if you and Fido need a snack and the flower gardens are impressive. You can stroll with your pooch and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. If you are looking for a longer hike, head down the road to the Little Kanawha Connector Trail. This hiking trail begins at Point Park and you can look out over the Ohio River and Belpre. The paved path was formerly a railroad corridor and is a convenient place to walk your pup.
