Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach is a small neighborhood community in Saint Marys that has been around since the 1920s. Visitors there will notice the quaint atmosphere and slow pace that the neighborhood is proud of. In fact, until 1992, there was a state-mandated ban on building anywhere near Sandy Beach, so the homes are historic and authentic. A quick five-mile jaunt from this neighborhood takes you to the K.C. Geiger Park, where you will find a great place for you and Fido to play near their fishing ponds or on the snow hill. Then, enjoy a relaxing meal in the shade at their shelter picnic facilities.

Rustic Haven

Beautiful nature trails, hiking, and fishing await you and Fido at Rustic Haven, one of the campgrounds located in Saint Marys. Here, you can take a boat ride on the lake or frolic in the water with Fido, then enjoy a leisurely picnic outside with food from their highly-rated Rustic Haven Bar and Grill. You can chow down on a selection of people and puppy pleasing food, from pizza to steak, and you can often find live entertainment outside on their patio. The campground offers full electric hookups and utilities and free showers, so after you and Fido work up a sandy sweat playing, you can rinse off before heading home.

Villa Nova

Saint Marys also is well-known as being the home of one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the world, Grand Lake, found in the Grand Lake State Park. In the park, you will find a plethora of boating, swimming, and hiking activities available to you. Grand Lake also has scenic walking trails for you and Fido to enjoy, so bring some water and Fido's leash (and doggie clean-up bags!). Marvel at the breathtaking views and peek-a-boo sights of the beautiful wildlife that surrounds the 13,500-acre lake. In addition to the lake, there are other park amenities, so you can bring some lunch and enjoy a picnic in all of nature's glory.

Valley View Apartments

Wapakoneta is one of Saint Marys' sister cities, located just a short ten miles from each other. Home of Neil Armstrong's Air & Space Museum, you will also find the highly recommended yet often overlooked Temple of Tolerance. This attraction is located behind what looks like a regular house, but when you enter the yard, you will find a unique shrine to equity and acceptance created out of rocks. Keep Fido on a leash, and if there are not a lot of guests, you may be able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that many say pictures simply can't do justice of!

New Knoxville

Saint Marys second sister city is New Knoxville, with a population density of 463. This little village has been around since 1836 and still has a running post office that was established in 1858! New Knoxville is a very tiny friendly and old-fashioned city with a slow pace and a feeling that you stepped back in time. There is a community park that you and Fido can stroll through, and multiple roads throughout the village that you should take a couple of hours to explore so you can see the historic buildings that the community keeps in good shape. Don't forget water and waste bags!
