If you and your pup find yourselves in the East Delevan Drive/Beloit Avenue area of Janesville, Wisconsin, be sure to visit the Palmer Park Off-Leash Dog Area. Located in the scenic Palmer Park, this designated off-leash area for dogs has several paths and grassy areas to explore. However, this park is best for dogs who respond well to their owners’ commands as it is not fenced in. A small river runs through the park and provides the perfect spot for hot dogs to cool off. Conveniently located off I-94, this park is a perfect pitstop for travelers and is free to use.

In Janesville’s southwest corner lies Paw Print Park. This dog park is located at Prairie Knoll Park and offers 17 acres of space for off-leash play. A separate area for small dogs ensures that dogs weighing less than 25 pounds can play without fear of larger breeds. The park has running water with a hose hookup to fill water dishes and hose off muddy paws. There is also a drinking fountain so humans can stay hydrated while visiting the park as well. This park does require a daily fee, which is payable on-site. Locals may also apply for an annual pass.

When you’re in Janesville’s Afton neighborhood, stop by the Rock River Parkway Off-Leash Area. The off-leash area is part of the beautiful Rock River Park, and it is the perfect place to go and let your dog stretch his legs. This park is not fenced in, however, and dogs must remain under their owners’ control at all times. The off-leash area is open daily from 5 am to 11 pm. It features a well-kept trail that is appropriate for walking, jogging and biking, and your dog will love sniffing and exploring this popular area. There is plenty of parking, and this off-leash area is a good place to visit with the entire family.

Located just under 30 miles to the northwest of Janesville, the town of Stoughton is home to the popular Viking Dog Park. Your canine companion will go wild for this large, fenced-in park. The dog park is part of the larger Viking County Park and features several designated for dogs. The fenced-in exercise area is on a peninsula that extends into the Yahara River and features two dog beaches. There are wooded trails as well as an expensive open area. Visitors to the park must purchase daily permits, which are available onsite. Your four-legged friend is sure to have a tail-wagging good time at this amazing park!


Milton

Milton

Just eight miles northeast of Janesville, the one neighborhood of Milton has an amazing dog park for pups to explore. Tails N Trails spans 15 acres and separate fenced areas for large dogs and small dogs. There is a clean water source, access to trails and agility equipment for dogs to enjoy. Outside the fenced-in area, there is a playground for children visiting the park. A washing station with water is available during the summer months. A swimming pond is available but has a fence that can be closed to keep your dog out. The park is free to visit and has plenty of off-street parking.
