Overview

Dog comedy movies are sure to get your fur-baby's tail waggin'. From cartoon capers to live-action antics, pooches on the silver screen have been making us smile for decades.

We've rounded up 5 of the best comedies featuring doggos for a fun movie marathon with your mutt. Time to break out the "pupcorn," curl up with your canine, and watch one of the "woofderful" dog comedies!

Warning: May contain spoilers!

SCOOB!

Jinkies! 2020's animated reimagining of this Hanna-Barbera classic is ideal for any fan of the Scooby-Doo and the gang. The "pawfect" blend of old and new, SCOOB! features Scooby-Doo legend Frank Welker, as well as fresh voices like Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried.

With modern quips and appearances by other classic Hanna-Barbera characters like Dick Dastardly, SCOOB! is ideal for a family movie night with your furry friend.

Marley & Me

Is there a more iconic dog comedy than Marley & Me? A heartwarming story of an uncontrollable yellow Labrador Retriever named Marley, Marley & Me is a movie with plenty of escapades that are super relatable for pet parents. Hopefully Marley doesn't give your mutt any ideas!

Marley & Me also deals with some pretty serious issues and how pups are an indispensable part of our families. The movie has some hilarious moments — just consider sending your pooch out of the room for the heartbreaking ending.

Bolt

Disney flick Bolt was a hit with critics, but many movie-goers slept on this original animated comedy. Bolt is about a White Shepherd who stars in a hit TV series as a super dog who saves their 12-year-old human, Penny, from peril. But Bolt escapes the set of the show and, having never been in the real world, thinks the show's events are real. So he embarks on a quest to save Penny, and production of the show grinds to a halt.

When Bolt teams up with a feral cat and a hamster in a ball in New York City, hijinks ensue. It's a unique premise and a fun film that will please pet parents, kids, and pups alike.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

For millennial pet parents, Clifford the Big Red Dog is a blast to the past. In 2021, the big red dog finally made the leap to the big screen. Just like in the beloved book series and 2000s TV show, Clifford's size causes havoc, only this time in New York City.

From breaking the scales at a vet clinic to chasing someone zorbing, Clifford causes plenty of problems for his pet parents. Just imagine trying to train a dog that size! This movie is ideal for kids, as well as adults who are feeling nostalgic.

The Secret Life of Pets

Ever wondered what your doggo gets up to when you're not home? That question and many more are answered in hilarious fashion by The Secret Life of Pets. This beautifully animated movie from the creators of Despicable Me focuses on Max, a Jack Russell Terrier, as he struggles to get along with his new adoptive brother, a Newfoundland mix named Duke.

With a cast of charming characters, including Gidget the Pomeranian and Sweetpea the budgie, The Secret Life of Pets is a side-splitting insight into what pets really think, and is one of the best pet-based comedies to watch with your woofer.
