This popular bark park has plenty of room for your pooch to run around and socialize off-leash, and socialization is crucial to the development of your dog’s manners. While your dog gets his exercise, you can take a seat on one of the many benches. Make sure to bring water for your dog, as it can get quite hot and water isn’t provided. Your pup has to stay on a leash at all times, and it’s largely for his own safety; there’s a lot of wildlife found in the preserve. Make sure to have plenty of water and waste disposal bags on hand!

South Port Jefferson

Listen, sometimes, you just want a sweet and tasty treat. Luckily, Port Jefferson, which is just two miles up the road from Port Jefferson Station, has got you covered! Visit Sweet ‘n’ Savory in south Port Jefferson, where you can enjoy delicious crepes and rice pudding, which locals insist is a delectable combination. “Two paws up,” says Fido! If you’d rather have something lasting instead of dessert, try the turkey and avocado crepe. Make sure to not let your dog have any when he dines with you on the patio, though; avocado is bad for dogs! A leash is required.

In the summer, there are kiddie pools that your dog can cool off in. You’ll need a pass to use this dog park, but it’s free of charge; it’s mostly used as documentation that your dog has had his rabies vaccination and has been spayed or neutered.
