How to Groom a Dog Like Boo

Introduction

Boo is one of the most famous dogs on the internet, if not the entire world. If you want to groom your dog like Boo, first you should probably have a Pomeranian since that is the kind of dog that Boo is. Second, you should dream of turning your Pomeranian into the cutest teddy bear ever. To trim your Pomeranian to look like Boo, you will need to be fairly well versed with how Boo is cut. This may take some time for you to get used to, but it is a fairly easy cut and it's also perfect for an incredibly cute Pomeranian pup.

Be aware that not all Pomeranians are the same. Some have long thick fur and some have wiry thinner fur. No matter the type of dog you have or the type of bone structure and fur your Pomeranian has, you can still do this Boo cut and have the cutest dog ever – because he’s your dog.

Dog's Perspective

Now your dog might not want to look like Boo. Your dog may not know exactly who Boo is. But more than that, your dog may be a little apprehensive about just how long this grooming could take, at least the first time you do it. Once your dog has transformed into Boo, try not to lose him in a pile of stuffed teddy bears because you may not know who is who.

Step
1
Brush out
Brush your Pomeranian's fur out so it's thick and fluffy and without mats or tangles.
Step
2
Clip
Use clippers to closely shave your Pomeranian’s body. Starting at his neck, shave his back and sides close but not bald all the way down to the bottom of his tail. This area should not be shaved, but left very short.
Step
3
Scissors
Use scissors to make any cuts that need to be made to clean up what was clipped. Also use scissors to trim the fur on your Pomeranian's legs so that it is all a uniform length without any scissor or clipper cut marks or lines.
Step
4
Neck
Using scissors to trim the fur on your Pomeranian's neck, blend it with the long fur you're leaving on the head and the very short fur you have shaved or clipped along your dog's chest and back. This blending needs to be very subtle.
Step
5
Back of the head
Do the same blending process with scissors along the back of his head as well, blending with the very short fur along his back.
Step
6
Face and head
The fur around your Pomeranian's face and head is long thick and fluffy. You want to round to this off it off using scissors. Keep a long length but make it all one length with clear edges and definition around his face and head. Be sure to keep the fur along your dog's ears short to match the shape of the face.
Step
7
Tail
Keep your dog's tail long and fluffy. You may need to use scissors to trim in order to make the tail fur fluffy and even. You can also trim the potty area so that it's clean and matches the short fur along your dog's torso.
Step
8
Brush
Once your Pomeranian’s fur is cut and evened out with scissors and clippers, brush the fur, except for the fur on his head, in the direction in which it grows. So starting from the neck, you will brush the sides and back down towards his tail. When it comes to your dog's face, you will need to brush in the opposite direction. So all of the long fur left around your dog's face in a round or squared off shape will need to be brushed forward. This will give him the teddy bear fluff face.

The Other Dogs Method

Step
1
Not a Pomeranian
Not every dog can be Boo. Not even all Pomeranians have the same structure or fur thickness as Boo. You may still want your dog to have this teddy bear cut, but maybe you don't have a Pomeranian.
Step
2
Full face
If your dog has a thick, furry face keep it long and turn it into a nice round circle where all of the fur is even.
Step
3
Back and body
Using clippers, clip the fur along your dog's back, body, chest and stomach very short. This will make his head look bigger and fuller.
Step
4
Fuzzy tail
If dog's tail is fuzzy, keep that as well. Use scissors to make it all the same length and look neat and trim.
Step
5
End
No matter the kind of dog you have, he can have a Boo cut if you leave all of the fur along the body extremely short while leaving the tail and the head fluffy and long. Be sure to comb the fur around the head forward to keep it fluffy while combing fur left on your dog's body in the direction towards the tail. This gives good definition between the two areas, giving your dog a round teddy bear face.

Caution & Considerations

  • Have patience with yourself while you are learning this particular cut.
  • Have patience with your Pomeranian as you begin to transform him into the most famous dog ever.
  • Because Pomeranians are small, grooming him up high on a countertop or a table is probably the most comfortable position for you. However, be sure to keep at least one hand on your dog at all times so he does not fall and become injured.
  • Boo's cut requires shaving of most of your Pomeranian’s body while rounding or square cutting around his face.
  •  Pomeranians are fluffy dogs. This is not a typical cut for a Pomeranian.
  • You need to be sure to work out any tangles or knots before you begin clipping.

Conclusion

You may have to face the facts that your dog is not actually Boo. But he can be just as Boo-tiful with proper grooming. Earn a round of a-paws from your best friend when you make him look like a celebrity pup with the Boo cut.
