Asilomar Beach

Situated on the Monterey Peninsula in the city of Pacific Grove, Asilomar State Beach has something to offer all dog lovers and their furry friends. Whether you want to take a hike, enjoy some beautiful coastal scenery or just enjoy being by the water with your pooch, this gorgeous beach has got you covered.

Asilomar State Beach stretches for approximately one mile along the coast and is open all year round. With rolling dunes, rocky outcrops and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, it's a gorgeous spot to do some sightseeing with your pooch. Visit just before sunset on a clear day and you'll surely be snapping off plenty of photos as the sun makes its slow descent.

To make the most of the views, take a stroll along the trail that winds its way along the coastline. There are wooden boardwalk sections and lookouts along the way, as well as trails meandering down to the beach. Your dog will love sniffing all the smells and seeing the sights along this pretty path, and you might even catch a glimpse of sea otters frolicking in the breaking waves or seals resting on the rocks.

It's important to note that dogs must always be kept on a leash at Asilomar State Beach. The California Department of Parks and Recreation also asks that you show courtesy to families with infants and young children who frequent the beach when walking dogs by keeping them under control, and also reminds all visitors of the importance of picking up after their pet.

The other important thing to remember is that there aren't many facilities available at this beautiful beach. There are no restrooms or showers, and you'll need to remember to take plenty of water for yourself and your furry friend.
