There are numerous public parking lots, parking meters, and on-street parking available in the area. If you live nearby, why not walk to the beach? You can work up a sweat with your doggo before taking a splash in the ocean. Some other amenities on the beach include restrooms, lifeguards, and volleyball courts.Â
The beach itself has excellent surf, and is surrounded by lovely sand dunes that have been protected from development. On the expansive sandy areas, your pal can frolic in the sand or sunbath by your side. You won't want to miss taking a stroll down the pier for some unobstructed views of the mountains, palm trees, and water. The Balboa Pier was built in 1906, and features a retro themed restaurant, and ideal locations to cast a line or watch the sunset.Â
If you'd like to continue the adventure, you can take a stroll with your canine companion along the Newport Balboa Bike Trail. Running behind the sand dunes, this trail attracts runners, bikers, skaters, and dog walkers. It continues all the way north to the Newport Pier. The adjacent, family-friendly Balboa Peninsula Park features children's play areas, picnic areas, water fountains, and multi-use fields. Because of the beach's convenient location, it's a breeze to grab a treat from one of the nearby eateries to enjoy at the park or on the beach.Â
Dogs are welcome here with both paws, as long as a few ground rules are followed. This includes only bringing your pup during the designated hours, and keeping them leashed and picked up after, so be sure to bring clean up bags. By abiding to these rules, you can do your part in keeping the beach clean and dog-friendly.Â
Balboa Peninsula Beach gets visitors raving and tails wagging every time!Â
