Benicia Off Leash Dog Beach

If you're looking for hours running and bounding through the sand, and total doggo freedom, this is the beach for you! Benicia, California offers you and your pooch a puptastic dog beach to spend the afternoon right in the gorgeous waterfront area. This off leash beach is the pawfect way to let your dog get out that energy in get in sun!

You can find this pupperdise at the end of First Street, right at the turn around, and before the promenade that heads to the pier. A green sign south of the turn around shows the way and proclaims that there dogs can go off leash. Parking is conveniently located to the west of the turn around down the promenade, and is only steps away from the dog beach. Be sure to keep the leash on until you get to the entrance to the beach.

Once there, take off the leash and let your pup romp free! Here you'll find a surface that is more dirt and rocks than sand, with easy access to the water of the Carquinez Strait which connects Suisan Bay to San Pablo Bay. Take a stroll along the shoreline, sunbathe on the shore, or play in the water with your dog. Whatever you decide to do, your pup is sure to love an afternoon in the sun and surf in off leash abandon! The beach is short on amenities, so be sure to bring anything you need to make your day pawrific! Have drinking water to share on hand, as well as clean-up bags, and always pick up after your pup. For your convenience, the waterfront has provided bags at the entrance to the dog beach, as well as in other areas of the promenade.

If your dog gets their fill of the beach, clip on the leash and take a walk down the promenade to the pier, where you can find a human restroom, as well as furbulous views. There are even plenty of dog-friendly patios at nearby restaurants if you and your doggo get a little hungry and require a refueling stop. Even further, there's plenty of bike trails, hiking trails, picnic areas, viewing points, and campsites nearby if you and your pooch feel the need to expand your day into a slumber-party endeavor.
