Keep in mind that the following are prohibited - overnight parking, campfires, and personal charcoal barbeques. KBSRA consists of white sand, creating a perfect beach feel for a day of relaxing. Nestled on the left side (if facing the water) of the Coon Street Boat Launch of KBSRA, the Dog Beach shares its shallower waters, making it a great area for your pooches to take a dip. Street Dog Beach has a rockier terrain that is more suitable for your furry friends. Some have said that the terrain is hard to navigate; therefore, it is not handicap accessible or recommended for dogs/people that have arthritis issues. This area has some trees and picnic table areas (behind the restrooms) that provide a good deal of shade and a great place to eat lunch while allowing your doggo to rest.
Dogs can be off-leash if they listen to voice commands well. Even though it is an area dedicated to dogs, please still dispose of their waste correctly with a bag thrown into the garbage. Dog waste bags are not provided, so please be sure to pack yours! Also be mindful of other people's dogs, and other people in general, even if your dog is normally 'friendly'. This allows other patrons to continue to bring their dogs back year after year.
If you are planning to take a family vacation to Lake Tahoe and want to bring your pup along, this is the perfect area to let them get their beach/water fix in as well.
