While Long Island, New York is covered with beaches, sadly, not every beach allows the company of our canine companions. Lucky for you, we have found the perfect spot for your pooch to come tag along! Fortunately, the South Fork of Long Island, which ranges from Quoque to Montauk, tends to be more lenient and allows our furry friends to accompany us in the sun. Along the Town of East Hampton are a number of bay-area beaches that welcome your furry friends, including Culloden Shores.
These narrower bay-area beaches (while less suited for activities like surfing) provide great views of the setting sun and are perfect for a romantic date with your pup. Because the beaches are in the bay, the waters are a lot calmer than the ocean beaches in the Hamptons. So get ready to put on your swim trunks and sunblock!
Because Culloden Shores is a less crowded, bay beach, dogs are permitted off-leash. However, you must remain a minimum of 300 yards away from a paved road (because, safety matters!!). If you are near a restricted area of the beach (for instance, you spot some turtle or bird nesting areas nearby), your pooch must remain on a leash.
Remember to make sure to refer to the time of year you are visiting, as special restrictions may apply. For instance, there are no time restrictions for your furry friend during the off-season. But there are specific time restrictions throughout the summer months (which you can find throughout this article!).
