Description
Looking for your next pawsome getaway? Bring Fido and the fam to visit Fort Pond! One of several Long Island beaches, this pawsitively awesome Montauk treasure earns two paws up from people and their pooches looking to enjoy some outdoor recreation.

Be sure to pack something to put on your tender tootsies as this beach is largely comprised of pebbles which can be hard on the feet. Fido is warmly welcomed to join you on your day of beach fun, and best of all, he is permitted to roam, roughhouse, and play without the need for a lead. Just be sure that Fido puts on the dog with his best canine manners by coming when called, and keep him far from the road at all times. You'll want to have a leash with you as well just in case you need it.

Unfortunately, there is no swimming for Fido or the fam at Fort Pond. The water quality has been too poor in recent years for Montauk officials to permit swimming in the pond's waters. But don't despair, there are still lots of furrific things to do at this woofderful beach! This 181-acre pond is the pawrfect spot to do some kayaking and paddleboarding. You can rent boats and other beach equipment at the nearby Puff-n-Putt which also offers a mini-golf course for families looking for a little extra recreation.

If you love to fish, Fort Pond is the place for you! Cast your line into the water and take your chances at reeling in a bass, carp, perch, or even a walleye to enjoy for lunch! In case fish isn't Fido's thing, be sure to pack some Scooby snacks for him to enjoy. It's always a pawrific idea to include some bottled water, sunscreen, and cleanup sacks along with your other beach essentials. It is unknown if there are any bathrooms housed on the grounds, but Fort Pond is located quite near to shops and restaurants. You will easily find a pawblic bathroom there.

If a quiet day by the sea is what you seek, you will find what you are looking for at Fort Pond. Plan a visit to this doggone great spot today!
