East Lake Drive Beach

East Lake Drive Beach, more commonly referred to as Gin Beach, is located in Montauk, New York, on the northeastern tip of long island.  This beach is the perfect place for you to bring your pooch as the beach is dog-friendly before and after the busy hours of the day, as well as during the entire offseason (please see special hours). Permit parking is enforced on the beach, so ensure to inquire upon arrival to avoid any unnecessary tickets. 

Gin Beach is a unique find because the calm waters of Block Island Sound will give both you and your pooch a much smoother swim compared to the rocky ocean waves further off the coast. It's the only beach in Montauk with a roped off area designated for swimming. Not only can you bring your pup into the water to cool off from the warm temperatures, but they can also take a long stroll on the white, sandy beach with you! While walking the beach, be sure to be on the lookout for ships entering and leaving Montauk harbor.

Amenities found on the beach for you to utilize include restrooms, outdoor showers and a concession stand where you can find refreshments and treats. Picnics are always welcome on the beach so bringing both your pooch and you a meal is always an option. Don't forget to pack extra water for your pooch if you're planning to take a long walk.

The beach policy is easy going when it comes to pups. Dog owners are asked to maintain control over their pets at all times and if you do decide to take them off-leash, be sure your pooch is within distance of hearing your voice commands, and be mindful of other beach visitors and pets. Carrying a leash at all times is a mandatory requirement, as well as doggy bags to clean up after your pooch. Aside from that, you and your pooch have miles of sandy beach stretching along the east of the coast to venture upon.
