To access this beach, you must come off the State Highway 1 and onto the route where a large parking lot is available to use. The car park is free and is great for bringing the family along with your pet dog. However, there are a number of trails leading to the beach. One is fast, easy, and not hazardous. Whereas another trail walks along a rocky slip and is not recommended for families with small children or dogs. Dogs are allowed to walk, jog or run on or off-leash and as long as you are responsible and pick up the dog poo, you will be alright.
The Davenport Beach has a clear distinction. One part of it is beautifully sandy and serene the other side nestles under a rock cliff face and consists of stones and pebbles. On the southern side of the beach, there are gorgeous tide pools that are quite useful for small toddlers as well as smaller dogs. The waves are also great for surfing and a lot of the locals use this beach for their passions.
As you view the rocky cliff face, you can see small swishes of water gently flowing down the crevices of the cliff and welling up in puddles at the bottom. And part of Davenport Beach's history is the long line of hollowed out caves that have been formed over the years with the tide.
Davenport Beach is available all year round from 8 am to 10 pm. It does not have any restrooms or shower facilities but it does boast a decent car park which is free to use. This is a beautiful beach for tourists to visit as well as the locals.
