Dillon Beach is a mile long, privately-owned beach in Marin County, California. While it is privately owned by the Dillion Beach Resort, it is open to the public for a small fee. Considered a hidden gem, Dillon Beach is perched on the Northern Californian Pacific coast, set between ranches and rolling hillside. An hour north of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, this pawrific beach offers dunes and tidepools, and a furbulous stretch of sand where you can spot dolphins and whales.Â
This private beach is expansive and home to Dillon Beach Resort, which offers room for guests. If you want to stay in a rustic, charming cabin during your trip to the beach, Dillon Beach Resort is pawfect for you and your pup. These beach houses allow guests to stay on the property without having to drive or walk to the beach during their stay in the area. The resort is also home to a café, general store, and a surf shop for guests to browse and buy anything they could possibly need.
If you are not a guest, you can still head to Dillon Beach. Parking is available right at the beach, for $10 per vehicle, which acts as your entry fee too. Since Dillion Beach tends to get larger waves than nearby Lawson's Landing, many surfers head over to Dillion Beach when the weather and water conditions are just right. Body boarding is also popular on the beach. There are tidepools that allow guests to explore small bits of wildlife up close and personal. With fire pits on the beach, many people like to enjoy a bonfire on the beach during sunset hours. Dogs are more than welcome on leash of course! While they aren't allowed inside any of the buildings, they can splash in the water, romp in the sand, or enjoy a beach picnic with you.
Be sure to bring all your beach essentials for a pawtastic day in the sun and sand. Water to share with your thirsty pup and clean-up bags are a must, and always pick up whatever your pup lays down. You can also grab last minute supplies from the Dillon Resort General Store.
For a truly pawrific time away from the crowds, check out the gorgeous Dillon Beach with your pup!
