Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach has everything an outdoor activist, event lover, and dog fanatic could ever want in one place! With 5 miles of paved hiking/biking trails in close proximity in addition to the off-leash dog park, this is a great area to bring your pup out for some exercise. Your pooch is welcome to swim in the waters; however, you cannot. Your furry friend must also stay out of the woods behind the beach.
Should you and your doggo adventure outside of the designated dog park area (in areas that allow dogs), they must be on a leash! This means no hiking without a leash on the great trails this park has to offer. The dog park is fully enclosed; therefore, if you have a runner, they won't get out on you. Another great asset is that you can bring your puppy along to all of the great concert events held at the park (as long as they stay within the designated dog area).
In order to be allowed in the park, your pupper must be over 4 months old, not in heat, healthy with up-to-date vaccines, registered, and not aggressive. Should your canine companion show any signs of aggression, they will be permanently kicked out of the park. It is imperative for the safety of other dogs and humans alike that no children under the age of six or without the accompaniment of a parent come to the park and that the dog is under the direct supervision of their owner at all times. Because food can be a big factor that leads to dog hostility, please do not bring any type (dog or human) with you into the park.
Doggie stations are available at the dog beach to help ensure you clean up after your pup. Please use the bags they provide and dispose of all waste in the waste bins.
Bring your pooches out (there is a limit of two dogs per person) and enjoy an event, a cool-off in the water, or some outdoor exercise.
