Driftwood Beach

Located on Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach is a picturesque beach that’s famous for its beautiful driftwood trees. Pups are to welcome to join you on this furrific beach year-round on leashes that are sixteen feet or shorter.

Driftwood Beach is located on the northern tip of Jekyll Island, and there are a few different ways to reach the beach. You can park at the Clam Creek Picnic Area and then take the marked pathway over to the beach. It’s about a mile from the parking lot to Driftwood Beach. Or, you can park at the parking area on North Beachview Drive, just past Villas-By-The-Sea. From there, an unpaved path will lead you to Driftwood Beach.

Once you get to the beach, you and your pup can go for a fun walk on the shoreline. Pups can splash around in the water—just be sure to keep them on their leash while they’re playing. As you’re walking, you’ll pass by the unique driftwood trees that gave the beach its name. The beach is filled with these stunning gnarled, sun-bleached oak and pine trees. Photographers flock to this beach to get photos of these beautiful trees.

After you’ve finished your walk, you and your pup can relax on the sand and enjoy views of the ocean together. As you’re lounging on the sand, keep your eyes peeled for dolphins—they often swim around in the warm water right off the shore. There isn’t much shade on the beach, so it’s a good idea to bring an umbrella to protect you and your pup from the sun. You’ll also want to bring drinking water and doggy bags with you.
