Edgewater Beach is located in Edgewater Park in Cleveland, Ohio. Visitors flock to the park to fish, cycle, kayak and walk through the beautiful surroundings, as well as spend time on the park's lakeside beach. Dogs love it there too, as they've got their own special section of the beach cordoned off just for them to be able to play and swim without the restraint of a leash. The off-leash dog area is at the furthermost, western point of the beach and has its boundaries clearly signed. Dogs are not allowed anywhere else on the beach other than in the designated off-leash area.
The off-leash dog beach is a great stretch of soft sand which is backed by a thick row of trees that gives pups somewhere shady to loll after their swim. The water along the shoreline is shallow, so it's perfect for both large and small dogs to paddle in. Pet parents should be observant of the notices for rip currents in the area. It's a good idea not to throw toys or balls too far out into the water in case a pup gets swept away.
While pups are permitted to roam and play off-leash at this beach, that doesn't mean they can go unsupervised. Pet parents must remain vigilant of their dogs and ensure their behavior stays within the acceptable boundaries.Â
The off-leash area of Edgewater Beach is just for dogs, but that doesn't mean waste should be left behind. There are clean up bags supplied at the beach and owners are required to put them to good use. There are no water fountains, so taking bottled water for thirsty pups is a must.
