Fort Funston Doggie Beach

The Fort Funston Doggie Beach is one of the best beaches to take your dog. This is according to numerous people, locals, and one time visitors. This beach allows you to take your dog off-leash (as long as you have them trained to listen to your voice) while you walk around the beach. The cool thing about this beach is that although the beach is amazing, there are also a few trails for you and your pup to check out during your visit. There are trails leading from the parking lot to the beach but there are also hills to walk on top of. Keeping that in mind, it wouldn't be the worst thing to bring some hiking shoes and clothes since there are plenty of trails to explore. Either way, it is a beautifully scenic destination for you and your four-legged friend

When scheduling your outing, be mindful that the only restrooms they have are porta potties that are located in the large parking lot. There are a few drinking fountains located in different areas of the beach, but your best bet will be to bring your own water to keep things easy. 

Be sure to bring your leash as a back up for you and your dog, only because horses are also allowed on this beach. Many visitors have said that they have seen horses around the beach so if you think your dog may get spooked, take your leash with you just to be safe about the situation. 

As with any time you take your dog anywhere, make sure you pack up some waste bags. That way you can pick up your pups waste as you walk around. This is a beautiful beach so you do not want to litter it up and make it an unsatisfactory experience for others coming to visit.
