Separated from the ocean by a thin strip of land and Highway 101, this Freshwater Lagoon beach can be accessed right from the coastal highway. With just a small parking area and parking along the side of the highway, this stretch of dirt and sand lies on the northwest tip of the lagoon. Your dog is welcome to romp in the sand and splash in the water with you, and explore this treasure of the coast on a leash no longer than six feet.
Quiet and backed by dunes and forests of redwoods, this furrific lagoon offers fishing and swimming. Paddlers can bring their boats to the boat launch and spend an afternoon on the water. Though there are no bathrooms for the humans on Freshwater Lagoon Beach, they are located nearby at the Redwood Creek Picnic Area just to the north. Be sure to bring clean-up bags for your doggo, and always stoop and scoop. Have drinking water to share on hand too.
It's important to note that while you and your canine companion are free to enjoy the beach area of Freshwater Lagoon Beach, you are not permitted to walk on the dunes to protect wildlife and other natural habitats on the dunes. Dogs are also prohibited on the trails in this park, so keep to the beach for this trip.
For a pawazing adventure between the oceans and forests of Northern California, bring your dog to explore the Freshwater Lagoon Beach!
