This beach features a long, wide beach that's packed with sandy terrain, as well as giant sand dunes, before hitting Redwood Highway 101, right behind that. You and your doggo are more than welcome to enjoy the Freshwater Lagoon Beach here, so long as you keep your excited pup on a leash that's no longer than 6 feet long.
It's important to note that while you and your canine companion are totally free to enjoy the beach area of Freshwater Lagoon Beach, you and your pupper are not permitted to walk on the dunes. This is a measure the state park takes to protect wildlife and other natural habitats on the dunes. You and your doggo best friend are welcome to enjoy the freshwater lagoon without any worry of your good boy or good girl sucking up too much saltwater, too - a welcome relief for many doggo owners who worry about too much seawater in their pup's systems.
There's plenty to do in this area with your dog, and there's tons of parking (which so happens to be free, too).
You and your doggo can swim, beach walk, hike, bird watch, or even hop on a boat with friends, as there's a boat launch readily available in the swimming area. There are bathrooms nearby at the Redwood Creek Picnic Area just to the north, but unfortunately, none are available directly on the beach.
