Hart-Miller Island State Park is home to a furbulous beach that allows leashed doggoes to come along for the pawrty. Grab your best canine pal and head out to comb the beach for some souvenirs of your day, or sunbathe along the coast. If wildlife is more your game, there is plenty of it to see and photograph here. You won't want to leave your camera behind! Be sure to leave any glass containers or alcohol at home as neither is permitted at Hart-Miller Island State Park Beach. You can picnic along the shore, or grab some snacks and an ice cold pop at one of the concession stands.
If you want to explore more of the island, note that only the western and southern areas are open to the public. Take a hike south from the beach to the southern tip of the island to explore the 8-miles of trails that are open 8 AM to 5 PM, Thursdays to Mondays from May through September, and discover other lesser known and smaller beach areas, such as Drum Point. Camping facilities are available by reservation, and Fido can join you here as well! Though these furrific areas are open to all members of the pawblic to enjoy, you'll need to get headed for home at sunset as only campers are permitted to stay once the sun goes down.
Drinking water and restrooms are offered near the main camping area from May until September, and along the trails on the south end. Bring water to share with your pup, especially during other times of the year. Keep your doggo leashed throughout the island, and always have clean-up bags on hand to pick up anything your pup may leave behind.
For a beach getaway you'll not soon forget, bring Fido and the fam to visit Hart-Miller Island State Park Beaches!
