Hurricane Bay Beach

Hurricane Bay Beach is a designated 50-foot area where woofers get to sniff the scent of freedom in a stunning natural setting. Parking is right next to the lake with clearly marked signs directing you to the dog beach.

This picturesque setting, with snow-capped mountains and a glistening blue-green lake, is the perfect stopover for travelers and lucky locals who have a dog beach at their back door. Large, established pine trees provide shade but it would pay to bring an umbrella, as your cute little Maltese could get a touch of sunburn. You’ll also need to bring clean-up bags to keep this breathtaking bay clean, along with plenty of fresh water. Drinking from the lake can cause health issues for dogs

Once your woofer is out of the car, you can take off the leash and let them romp around the pebbled shore. The lake waters run deep as this is where residents moor their boats and divers search for underwater forests and shipwrecks. It's therefore wise to monitor your swimming pooch. If your pup is off-leash, it's essential they respond to your voice commands as the road is close to the beach. Dogs can also get excited, meeting new woofers and having the freedom to roam. Good doggy manners are required so all pooches can have a pawsome time.

There is a paved walking/bike path that extends along the beach with restrooms and picnic tables available at the south end of the walkway. Kayaking, water-skiing, and paddle-boarding are popular activities on Lake Tahoe, so bring your dog to the pooch-friendly beach!
