Be aware that the entire beach is not Fido-friendly. Dogs are welcome on the Imperial Beach City Beach north of Palm Avenue. The main section of Imperial Beach City Beach from Palm Avenue to Imperial Beach Avenue is strictly off limits to dogs. However, to the north of Palm Avenue to the fenced in area of the Silver Strand Naval Training Complex, your pup can romp in the sand and water, but does need to stay on leash. There's even a small dog beach area at the corner of Seacoast Drive and Carnation Avenue, so the little pooches can play safely too!
Dogs are also allowed on South Imperial Beach, which is south of Imperial Beach Boulevard.
Stroll the beaches, splash in the water, build sandcastles for your dog to smash, and sunbathe in bliss on this gorgeous beach. If photography is your thing, you can capture breathtaking views of the Los Coronados Islands from the shores of the beach. The sunsets here are pawmazing too! Though the main beach has plenty of amenities, this section is not so equipped, so be sure to bring any needed essentials. A proper beach bag should include water to share with your pup, and clean-up bags to help keep the beach pristine.
Free parking can be found on side streets, and a free parking garage is available on Seacoast Drive between Palm and Dahlia Avenues. Just be sure you don't walk your dog on the beach south of Palm Avenue to get to the dog-friendly side.
If a day at a pawrific beach is what you are looking for, you won't be disappointed at Imperial Beach City Beach. It's doggone pawesome!
