The Moonstone Beach is an ideal on-leash, dog-friendly Trinidad beach. The beach has a freshwater river that is clean, safe and shallow. The huge beach is sparsely populated so you can easily walk or even run your heart out with your dog.
In addition to walking your dog, you can enjoy rock climbing, surfing, sunbathing, playing catch, or having a picnic. It is also a great place to watch surfers in addition to spending quality time with your doggo. You can do some exploring as there is a lot to see and find at this beach - including tons of driftwood!
Take some time to walk around as there are a lot of nooks where you can hang out. Keep your dog on a leash, until you’re far from other people and dogs. There are many locals that bring their well-trained dogs without a leash. While some non-dog owners can find the beach overwhelming, Moonstone Beach is perfect for those with pooches in their life.
Make sure to check the water quality. Sometimes there is too much bacteria in the water, so you need to be careful. You may have some issues parking with a trailer. It’s best to park it at the restaurant and then walk down. There is a small dirt lot at the end of the road that you have to watch out for. As you enter the beach, the dramatic rock formations and the river running along the shore will greet you.
The soft sand is warm, fine, and wet. You will find plenty of shells all over. A shower and a porta potty are available. There is plenty of room to run and ride a horse. There are plenty of places in the sand to sit down, enjoy a snack, or just chill and read a book. Fido will enjoy checking out the cave pond and tasting the flies. Make sure to clean up after your doggo to help maintain the beautiful beach.
