Moran Lake Park and Beach

Moran Lake Park and Beach is an idyllic, natural setting highlighting a lagoon and private beach where dogs can happily walk with their owners. Situated on the east side of Santa Cruz in the Live Oaks area, this 9-acre space is home to many native birds chattering in the Eucalyptus trees and providing a lovely shade setting for locals picnicking or enjoying the tranquility.

Across the road is a cozy cove sporting the waters of the Pacific with coastal homes protected at both ends by rocky barriers. Here, you can let your Greyhound or Schnoodle experience the magical feeling of sand under their paws. The rules are all woofers must be on-leash while at the beach or park. Clean-up bags are provided to keep this fur-baby haven clean.

Restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor showers are available back at the park, which makes Moran Lake a wonderful outing for dogs and their guardians. Serene nature walks around 9.2 acres of trees, open spaces and shoreline are better than dog treats to the pooch that loves swimming and sniffing in a peaceful, sea-side setting This is a utopia for dogs, who can dance in the Pacific Ocean waves, or spend good times outdoors with their favorite pet-parents.

The park has around forty car parks, and there’s a scenic dirt trail around the lake your woofer will love. The beach is around a mile long and is a popular haunt for surfers, sunbathers and those who like a solitary spot of fishing by the sea. The waves can be forceful, so keep an eye on the tides for safe swimming times with your pooch. You might want to pack a shade tent or umbrella to keep your pooch cool as the summer temperatures can get up in the high 70's, and always have water to drink on hand.
