The city of Newport Beach, located along California's coast, prides itself in having over 10 miles of coastline that's free for you and your pooch to explore. Within this coastline lies the 8 miles of Newport Beach Municipal Beach, which is divided up into different sections that millions of vacationers visit each year!Â
Newport Beach is known for its pristine coastline that's riddled with surfers, swimmers and those enjoying water sports. Depending on where you are on the beach, you will find different amenities, but for the most part, washroom facilities can be easily found along the shoreline. Fire pits are also available for rent if you're looking to get cozy. Aside from rental equipment and personal purchases, the only fees you will pay at the beach in Newport Beach is a parking fee that's $10 on weekdays or $20 on weekends.Â
As a result of the popularity and congestion that can occur on the beach, dogs are only permitted to accompany their owners during specific times. Bring your pooch with you to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise while you stroll the beach and boardwalk anytime between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Return back to the beach after 4:30 PM to marvel at the unforgettable sunsets over the ocean waves. Keep in mind your pooch is not permitted on the beach or any of the boardwalks between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
During your walks with Fido, remember to keep them on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. You're welcome to take a dip in water with your pup, but don't remove their leash! It's also important to tidy any waste they make so the beach remains clean, so be sure to have clean-up bags on hand. As the beach is on the Pacific Ocean, bringing clean drinking water for your pup is always a good idea!
While waiting to get back on the beach, you and your pooch can check out the various trails, paths or the dog park located close by the water. The Back Bay Loop Trail is over 10 miles in length, and will take you and your four-legged companion on a scenic journey. This particular path is open from 7:00 AM until sunset.Â
The next time you're visiting the City of Newport and looking to stroll the beach with your pup, remember all beaches welcome dogs with open paws during the designated times!
