The smallest of the beaches in Avila and Port San Luis Harbor, you're guaranteed to see dogs running free through the sand and surf no matter what time you happen to pass by. Pups are more than welcome to roam around off-leash, a luxury in most areas, as lots of dog parks and beaches require that pooches have a leash on (not to mention they usually have a maximum leash length, too!). But in Olde Port beach, dogs rule the sand and the surf, running free at all hours of the day and night.Â
The only recommendations and regulations the beach asks are that, above all, you control your dog. If your pup isn't able to handle being off-leash, then don't allow your dog to be off leash. Only friendly, amicable pups are allowed to be at the beach, so if your pooch isn't really into mingling, this might not be the spot for you two to explore.
The beach also asks that you always, always clean up after your dogs. Though there are not poop bags readily available, they ask that you bring a few of your own just in case your dog needs to use the bathroom during your stay. Clean up all your trash, pack up your dog's poop, and keep the beach as clean as possible so it can remain an off-leash doggo beach haven!
