Santa Cruz locals and visitors to this fascinating part of the world are lucky to be able to access several dog-friendly beaches. Seabright Beach, which stretches between the Boardwalk and the Santa Cruz Harbor, is one of the best.
Leashed dogs are welcome on the beach in the section on the north side of the harbor at 7th Avenue. It's a favorite spot for local dog lovers and their pooches to get wet, take a walk, and generally just enjoy some quality time breathing in the fresh salt air.
Seabright Beach features a lovely, wide expanse of sand, so there's ample room for you and your canine to enjoy some beach time without feeling too crowded or hemmed in. You can enjoy a walk or a jog along the sand, let your dog follow their nose and investigate some interesting smells, or splash your paws in the shallows while taking in the scenery.
With views of the harbor, nearby Walton Lighthouse, and Santa Cruz Wharf, this really is a very pretty stretch of coastline. It's also a popular spot with locals and visitors alike, so expect to see plenty of other surfers, swimmers, sightseers, and of course, dog walkers.
There are fire rings available for beach bonfires, and the beach is open from sunrise to sunset all year round. Like much of Santa Cruz, driving to Seabright Beach can be a little confusing, so make sure to consult a map before traveling or use a GPS. Alternatively, at low tide, you can make it to the beach on foot from the boardwalk.
As always, remember to follow the posted signs and take care to clean up after your pet. Other than that, feel free to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the feeling of sand between your toes. With your dog by your side, a visit to Seabright Beach is simply paw-some!
