There are a few, special places within the Sonoma Coast State Beach that allow pups - that being said, there are quite a few areas that don't allow dogs, so you'll have to be very cautious and ensure you read the signs of where you and your dog can travel.
The areas you are allowed to bring your dog include Marshall Gulch, Carmet Beach, Schoolhouse Beach, Portuguese Beach, Duncan's Cove, Wright's Beach, Furlong Gulch, Shell Beach, Blind Beach, and Russian Gulch. All other areas have a strict no-dog policy.
When you and your dog are exploring the areas he or she is allowed to join you, always make sure they're on a leash that's no more than six-feet long! Act like a responsible dog owner and follow the rules - that's the park's biggest request.
This includes things like carrying poop removal bags, picking up after your dogs, and leaving only pawprints when you and your pooch exit the beach. It's also important that you never leave your pup unattended, so even if you have a polite, well-behaved dog, ensure you're staying with them at all times!
