The Original Dog Beach finds its home at the northern tip of Ocean Beach. This pawsitively awesome seaside haven is open 24 hours a day and seven days week, and is 100 percent pooch-furiendly! Best of all, The Original Dog Beach's dress code states that leashes are optional as this coastal retreat is a leash-free zone! Whether your pup's passion is pawrfecting their digging skills, prancing by the ocean, or practicing their best doggy paddle, Fido is welcome in all areas of The Original Dog Beach. 

This beach has great scenery, including a furbulous view of Cabrillo, and also connects to the Ocean Beach Municipal Pier, which offers a nice spot for walks and a restaurant for hungry beachgoers after playing in the sun with your pets. On the other side of the parking lot from the beach, a grassy picnic area is available, allowing you to make a day of it and bring food and drink and give your dog a change of scenery. You will surely work up an appetite splashing around in the waves with your best canine pal by your side. 

Remember to bring along some beach towels, drinking water, and clean-up bags to this puptastic seaside retreat, and always stoop and scoop. Just for a little added fun, why not include some tennis balls, a frisbee, or a tug toy? Your pooch is sure to have a blast playing with you! All dogs enjoying the beach must be current on vaccinations, as well as in possession of dog tags showing proof of an up to date city dog license. Parking is conveniently located in a nearby lot and on the street.
