To get to the beach, you and your pup will need to take a short hike to the river. There are two trailheads to start you off. The one closest to the river is located at the south end of the park on Whitewater Creek Road Northwest. The other is on Indian Trail Northwest. There is parking available at both locations, where you can purchase a $5 parking day pass. After working up a sweat on the trails, the beach will be a beautiful sight!
The beach is a very flat area made up of sand and small rocks, opening up to the Chattahoochee River. Although the official website states that dogs should stay leashed, many owners choose to let their fur-babies run free. It's secluded enough that doggo's can't run off anywhere. The area is less busy for hikers than the western side of the river, but it's become known for it's "dog beach". You may run into some other doggos and their humans, and get a chance for some pawsitive socialization.
If you'd like to explore a little further, the surrounding trails lead to beautiful views from towering bluffs, through historic ruins, and into a small bamboo forest. Your pal will appreciate the extra fresh air and exercise, and you're sure to have a tuckered out out pup by the end of the day.
Dogs are welcome here, but keep in mind that if you let your dog off-leash, you could receive a fine from the ranger. Always pick up after your pal to help keep this area clean and dog-friendly.
Whitewater Creek Trail is truly a puppy paradise!
