At the campground, you will find some trees that provide shade, but overall, the campground has little tree coverage. Lewiston Lake is cold, but known for its crystal-clear blue waters and wonderful fishing that draws in fisherman every year. The lake is five miles in length and is surrounded by mountains and peaceful green forests. Boating and kayaking in the lake are popular and fun activities as well. Hikers also love the area. One of the best trails for hiking is the Noth Lakeshore Trail, which is two miles and provides fantastic views of the terrain. Many campers also like to go wildlife viewing in the area - bears live here, so take precautions when going out to explore.
At your actual campsite, you will have a picnic table, campfire ring, and a grill to use. All campers have access to flushing toilets, a parking area, and drinking water from April to October. The campsite is open all year long, but the peak season runs from May to September every year.
Overall, Ackerman Campground is a great place to go camping if you are looking for a secluded and peaceful location and do not care about a lack of amenities, such as showers, trash cans, or things like these. Of course, Fido can come along with you, but make sure to clean up after them and throw the bags away correctly!
