FORBES CREEK

The Forbes Creek Group Campground is found in Foresthill, California on the shores of Sugar Pine Reservoir in the Tahoe National Forest. There are two group campsites at Forbes Creek, and each one can accommodate up to 50 guests and 18 vehicles. Cedar and ponderosa pine trees dot the campground and provide comfortable shade on hot days. The campground overlooks the reservoir which helps keep temperatures cool at night and warm in the day. Forbes Creek is pet-friendly, but keep your dogs on a leash and always clean up after them.

Both group sites at Forbes Creek have central picnic areas, cooking facilities, and plenty of tables. Drinking water is available, and there are also large campfire circles where your group can gather each night. Campsites do not have electric hookups, but sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents and there's a dump station on-site.

The Sugar Pine Reservoir is ideal for all sorts of outdoor recreation including boating, fishing, swimming, and canoeing. There are several trails surrounding the campground, including a short path that takes campers right to the reservoir where there's a boat launch ramp. Campers can use their motorcycles and ATVs in the Foresthill OHV Area, where there are nearly 100 miles of trails throughout the forest.

Forbes Creek Campground sees its fair share of bears who come looking for food at campsites. Guests must store their food in bear-safe lockers and only use properly secured dumpsters. Guests are reminded not to store food in their tents, and never to approach, feed, or confront bears if they do see one.

This accessible campground has an unloading area in the parking lot, as well as accessible parking spots. The nearby trail system includes some trails that are paved and accessible for wheelchairs. Forbes Creek Campground is a very pawpular place, be sure to book your spot ahead of time!
