Description

Acorn Campgrounds sits fashionably by New Hogan Lake, inviting weary travelers and intrepid souls to spend time in an oasis of trees and hillside views.

Well placed oak trees provide a certain amount of shade with stretches of green grass and cleared dirt areas for RVs and trailers to park. The terrain is hilly, with 128 sites and facilities including restrooms and coin-operated showers. Some camping sites are wheelchair-friendly. Each space has a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern plus the camp features an amphitheater and tap water.

Dogs are very welcome at the campgrounds but must stay on a leash shorter than 6 feet at all times. Pooch owners are expected to pick up their waste, so pack the doggy bags before you leave home. There is a maximum of two woofers allowed per campsite.

The waterfront setting is highly appealing to campers who come to embrace a fierce landscape with simple amenities and a serene ambiance. There are no electricity or water hook-ups for RV’s and trailers but having the lake at your doorstep and the opportunity to share road stories with other campers makes Acorn Campground a stellar place to relax and unwind.

There is a basic fee of $20 and all the lake fun you can take with boating, water-skiing, tubing, and fishing for bluegill and bass.

Imagine pitching a tent in the hills of the Sierra Nevada mountains for a few days of communing with nature and hiking the popular River Skulls trail around four miles from the camp. Biking and horse-riding trails supply the extreme-factor for outdoor enthusiasts. Its okay to take your dog on the trails on-leash, where they'll be in doggy heaven taking in the new sights and scents. If you've come to see wildlife, the Hogan Lake area is home to Bald eagles, deer, coyote, and turkeys with some areas designated for hunting.

Just under three miles down the road, campers will find the history-packed town of Valley Springs surrounded by three, picturesque lakes and a scenic beauty gifted by nature. Spoil yourself at one of the popular eateries or spend time playing disc golf!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
