Description

It may only be 20 minutes from downtown Oakland, California but when you camp at the Anthony Chabot Campground, you'll feel a world away from it all! This campground is located within Anthony Chabot Park, a 5,067-acre park with miles of hiking trails to explore in addition to its pawesome campsites. There are 75 sites to choose from, including group camping, RV hookup, hike-in, and tent-only spots.

The Anthony Chabot Campground is open all year, and your dog is welcome to come along for your camping adventure. The campsites overlook Lake Chabot, and you'll be surrounded by tall eucalyptus groves which provide welcome shade on hot days. Guests remark that the campsites and other facilities are very clean and well-maintained, and the park rangers you'll meet along the way are very friendly and helpful.

You'll find a variety of convenient amenities at the Anthony Chabot Campground to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. There are flush toilets, showers, comfort stations, running water, and picnic tables, and you can purchase firewood to use your campsite fire ring. Within ten miles, you'll find several other services. If you'd like to golf during your camping trip, there's a course nearby. You can also rent kayaks, boats, and canoes, or hike one of several trails within Anthony Chabot Park. If you bring your dog along for your hike, keep an eye out for off-leash trails where your dog can run free alongside you! The park does ask that you keep your dog out of the lake due to harmful blue-green algae.

There's all sorts of wildlife in Anthony Chabot Park, and it isn't uncommon to hear owls or wild turkeys from your campsite. You might also spot groups of deer, as well as squirrels and other cute critters. Plenty of campers bring their dogs along so your four-legged companion will find all sorts of friends to play with!

Your dog must remain on a leash when you're not in your tent or trailer, and be sure to clean up after them to keep Anthony Chabot Campground as beautiful and fun as it is!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
