Basin Campground is a year-round location perfect for guests who like to "ruff" it in the great outdoors.
If you're planning to camp in an RV, be sure to call ahead, as only a few of the 15 sites offered by Basin Campground can accommodate camping vehicles. If Fido is doing the potty dance, the sites are located on a small gravel loop that has a few refuse bins around, so taking canines out for a quick bit of relief is a breeze. Restrooms are available for guests along with freshwater taps, but on-site amenities are lacking. As bears tend to be a frequent sight in the area, guests would be wise to pack any food in bear-proof containers and keep all scented items in their vehicles.
As part of the White Mountain National Forest, Basin Campground offers guests easy access to numerous hiking trails and other fun, dog-friendly outdoor activities. The diverse wildlife in these forests is incredible, so make sure to pack your binoculars and find out what you can "spot" as you and Fido wander this untouched landscape. Typical rules apply for canine campers, so make sure your dog is always on a leash and that you pick up any waste they might leave behind.
During the winter months, skiing becomes quite popular at Basin Campground due to the ample snowfall in the region. In the summer, Basin Pond is a furrific place to go swimming -- though it's probably wise to keep Fido out of these waters! Guests note that leeches are abundant on the banks of the pond, but aren't as prevalent in the water, so watch your step as you're walking.
If you're looking for a hidden gem in the White Mountain National Forest, Basin Campground is the pawfect place to enjoy a little peace and quiet with your best furry friend!Â
